to clear the air...

Today, I am thankful for....

Day 6: I am thankful that no matter the election results, we have an all-powerful God whom has a plan for our nation...we may just not be able to understand it yet. He is in control and He has a plan.

One Nation, Under God...

Day 7: I am thankful for our military -- these brave men and women, no matter the political leanings/tendencies of our country, are out there sacrificing their lives for our freedoms. We owe everything to them, and that includes our respect.

"Ask not what your country can do for you; Ask what you can do for your country."
--JFK

"Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world, but the Marines don't have that problem."
--Ronald Reagan

I just want to clear the air. Yes, we may not personally believe much in the left side of the spectrum, for the best government is one that governs least (Read the quotes above and below, please), but... This is our country. Our military fought and is currently fighting for our freedoms and our right to vote, and we must respect election results no matter the outcome, if not for our own satisfaction then for their sake. Moreover, God is all-powerful, Our Creator, and has a plan for our nation. We just need to sit back and let Him take control.

From the wise mind of one of our Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson...

"A wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circlue of our felicities."

"My reading of history convinces me that most  bad government results from too much government."

Yes, I may have said that we want to move to Australia, so why not now...But we're going to save that for later. We both want to live there for a couple years anyway, it's on our bucket list. But that comment wasn't intended to be sparked by late political comings. It is simply on our bucket list. That comment is not to flee God's current plan for our country, it is simply a statement of an extended vacation that we want to go on. It would be wonderful to live in Australia for a number of years. It is a dream. Who wouldn't want to see as much of this beautiful world of God's Creation as they can?

Back to the previous subject... Like it or not, the Commander in Chief is Marshall's boss, my dad's boss, our military's boss, and our country's boss. We have to respect that. There are men and women deployed around the world who are sacrificing their lives and safety for our freedoms. We have to respect them too.

It doesn't seem fair that, though our troops are fighting for and defending our freedoms and rights all around the world, many of our deployed troops in the Middle East and elsewhere never saw their ballots counted. Why does a priority like this one take so long to come to action? Those ballots should have been sent months ago, realizing something such as not getting to them in time, or having them sent  back to the States in time, would happen.

Besides the point, I'm praying that our president will have enough heart to be able to give the credit to our military instead of himself, given the many situations he perhaps hasn't been so keen on doing so. I'm praying for our military. I'm praying for this country to realize Jesus' sacrifice, and run by His direction. I'm praying for a country based on Biblical values, as it was intended to be (One nation under GOD). I'm praying for Biblical values reflected in new legislation, and for Americans to, by this, realize their country's intention. I'm praying for a president that takes responsibility for the events that happen during his term of presidency, not instead blaming it on the previous president's terms. I'm praying for America. I'm praying that perhaps in future elections, the deployed military are given priority, and are mailed their ballots in plenty of time for collection and counting.

This is a country built on the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, as well as Jesus' sacrifice, being a nation founded on the beliefs of GOD and freedoms from an intrusive government. And, consequently, one that is "supposed" to be a limited government, not interfering with our civil liberties (Read the Constitution, the Declaration, Why our Founding Fathers left England, etc...). I'm praying that God will guide our President to do what is best for this country, One Nation Under GOD. HE is in control, we just need to let HIM take control. It is all a part of His plan.

Amen.
